Write a Teleprompter Script: Template and Worked Example

A teleprompter script is a speaking aid. Write short thoughts in the order a listener needs them, then test the words aloud. Formatting helps you find your place, but editing a difficult sentence usually helps more than changing the scroll speed.

Build the message before filling the page

Use the word-count guide to set a provisional budget. Leave room for a demonstration, a breath and an ending that does not feel cut off. You do not need a different template for every social platform.

  • Opening: name the viewer's question or problem.
  • Promise: say what this video will explain or demonstrate.
  • Explanation: give one idea, then a concrete example.
  • Ending: recap the point and suggest one useful next step.

Replace writing that is hard to say

The second version gives the listener actions they can picture. Read both aloud. If you stumble on the same phrase twice, rewrite it with words you use in conversation. Expand an abbreviation when its pronunciation is unclear.

Example to adapt
Before: Prior to initiating the recording process, it is recommended that users undertake verification of the acoustic environment. After: Before you record, listen to the room. Is a fan running? Can you hear traffic? Make a short test and play it back.

Use a reusable script skeleton

Replace every bracket before the final take, except deliberate stage directions. Keep paragraphs short enough to navigate, but let the app wrap lines for the actual font and device. Line breaks copied from a desktop page may look different on a phone.

Example to adapt
You want to [result], but [obstacle] gets in the way. Here's one way to solve it. First, [action]. Notice [visible detail]. Now try [second action]. The difference is [explanation]. [Pause for the demonstration.] Remember [one takeaway]. Try it with [specific example].

Rehearse, edit and only then polish

Read the complete draft into a test recording. Cut repeated introductions, simplify terms and check timing again. Mark a pause where you need to show something, not after every sentence.

If you use the AI script writer, review names, numbers and factual claims yourself. Generation needs a network connection; your revised script can then be used in the app's local reading and recording workflow. Keep the script in your own voice instead of accepting a draft unchanged.

Before publishing, listen without looking at the screen. If the message depends on punctuation that cannot be heard, make the relationship explicit in the spoken sentence.
